Georgia Tech SAT and ACT Scores: What You Need to Get In.
The two most common questions we have received from families and counselors about the redesign are concerning the optional essay section and our super score policy. At Georgia Tech, we have found the current SAT Writing section to be predictive of freshman success.The average SAT score of admitted students to Georgia Institute of Technology-Main Campus is 1410. If you or your child is applying to Georgia Tech, scoring above 1410 means the SAT is working in your favor. Scoring below 1410 means the SAT is working against you.Georgia Tech SAT Score Analysis (New 1600 SAT) The 25th percentile New SAT score is 1390, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1540. In other words, a 1390 places you below average, while a 1540 will move you up to above average.
This admissions data tells us that most of Georgia Tech's admitted students fall within the top 20% nationally on the SAT. For the evidence-based reading and writing section, 50% of students admitted to Georgia Tech scored between 630 and 730, while 25% scored below 630 and 25% scored above 730.The SAT Essay is scored on three metrics: Reading, Analysis, and Writing. Students can earn 2 to 8 Points on each metric, for a maximum score of 24. Two scorers read each essay, and they assign a score of 1 to 4 for each metric. These independent scores are then added together to calculate the composite score for the SAT Essay.
In general, if your SAT scores fall within or above the ranges listed above, you are on track for admission to these schools. Universities with a largely technological focus—Caltech, MIT, and Georgia Tech—do not have separate admissions for engineers.
